A home based affiliate business can bring incredible rewards. If you run a home based affiliate marketing business via the Internet, you don't need any inventory, you don't need to commute to irritating workmates, you can create your own dress code!

Or even work naked if you choose to, you become your own boss; you set your own hours. You go on vacation whenever you want and for as long as you want, and... You can make big money--even while you sleep once you succeed. Sounds like one of those familiar get rich quick sales letters aha! Don't be alarmed, this is way far from that.

A successful home based affiliate business does require certain things of you, however. It's not (quite) all peaches and cream--especially not at it's inception early stages.

At first when you get started, you will likely have to operate your home based Internet business part time, by night, and/or on the weekends. That of course depends on your schedule and the available hours you are willing to put in.

It will take you a little while before you're making enough money from your business so that you can quit your day job and tell your boss to take a hike. What this means to you is that you will need to be persistent and dedicated if you want to make it big with Internet marketing business.

Now you see, I told you this is not about those pipe dreams that you see people selling and pushing forth to unsuspecting victims and yet they themselves know totally nothing about even as much as they would like their victims to believe them as pure gospel and worship them as genius experts while all along their intent is to scam and pocket all the money they can from their victims.

Alright, let's go on...grab a chair and some drinks or beer if you wish.

Besides persistence and dedication, what else do you need to become a successful home based business owner?

Mmm, I see we are now getting serious here.

• You will need to set and have goals in mind.

And then very important strive to meet those goals. You see most people are able to set goals, but here is the secret, very few do actually strive hard to achieve those goals, now I want you to be among the few that actually do bring their goals to accomplishement. (by the way, how is that new year’s resolution getting along…oops!)

• You will need to set short-term and longer-term goals.

It's best if you write down these goals and also write them into your calendar. By doing this you make them more real to your mind and you subconsciously begin driving toward them. I think I should help you out here, read more about success secrets here.

Even if you fail to meet a goal--such as, for instance, being able to quit your cool job within one year--the fact that you strove for it means that you went much further than you would have otherwise.

Don’t cry and blame yourself too much about it, at least you did something, right!

Also, by not meeting your goal you learn a great deal that you can apply to future goals. It may be that you didn't give yourself a realistic time frame, or there was one key thing that you neglected to do in your marketing efforts.

You cannot give up just because you fail to meet a goal. This is a mistake that a great many people make. Failing to meet a goal is not final failure--but quitting is.
