Today I met my long time lost friend and I couldn't help but feel ashamed. You see my friend john and I come from the same town. We grey together, played together and went to the same schools.

Unfortunately after high school, we both went our own ways and that is where the embarrassment sets in. You see John always made an effort to call now and then inquiring of my life's progress. Then I formed the habit of promising to make the next call, promised to pay him a visit and many more other promises that I would do this or that in order to keep our friendship going and alive.

I can assure none of those promises made ever came to pass, all I did was to keep post-phoning them as other issue in life took precedence and then talk myself to do something whenever John came calling like today.

So what has to do with running our web business today?

Now that you have identified a profitable niche and you have set up your web site, do you go around talking about it, thinking about it or even fantasizing about it but never doing something tangible?

Don't merely think of how you are going to get links for your web site instead go get that link

Don't keep researching on what keyword to include on your page, instead write and post that page online.

Today is the time to stop merely talking or thinking on your next move. Start putting some action into your web business by actually doing something.

Write an article and submit it to the search engines.Post a new page on your web site or blog.Edit an existing page and make a few improvements no matter how small.

It's by doing something tangible no matter how minute it is that we make progress and eventually become successful with our web business.

Running a home based business can be quite exciting, there is nothing as sweet as managing your own hours without having someone else looking over you and schedule and do all that you want at any time you like or feel.

You know it’s really feels nice to know that you are in full control of your entire life.

On the other hand when things don't work according to plan and expectations, when there is a sudden drop in your sales level, when you computer suddenly starts to malfunction and you spend the whole weekend trying to restore rather than accomplish your set goal, when you put in so much effort towards your business without gaining any immediate results…

That is the time when you suddenly realize how managing and running a home based system can be scary and intimidating at the same time.

Discover what you most love and have passionate doing at so well on your business.

Once you find out what it is, then take that crucial step of making daily improvement on it regardless of how perfect you think it is.

If there is an area in your business that gives you a hard time to manage, it's better to outsource that task to someone who can be able to do a better job than you. You can also decide to drop the whole task if its not your core business.

Plan ahead and have a backup plan.

To avoid being stressed on a day to today basis when the unexpected happen, start off by having a clearly defined short and long term plan for you business.

Within that plan incorporate a series of steps or action to be undertaken in case things go wrong. For instance regularly save a backup file for your documents just incase you computer crashes up.

Do you want to succeed starting Today?

It's amazing that so many of us want to succeed, but it's even more astounding that so many of us actually fear to fail.

Why is it that so many of us tend to limit ourselves as to what we can truly accomplish? How many times have you put yourself down by convincing your self that the goal is too high for you to achieve?

How many times have you let your self to accept other peoples opinions that tend to discourage you from doing that which you desire and belief in doing?

What does this have to do with our online business?

So many of us have the potential to succeed with our online business, unfortunately time after time we tend to limit ourselves with our thoughts and feelings.

The first step towards online success is to re-examine ourselves. Let's start by looking inside our thoughts and see what's happens in there. Our thoughts play a bigger role towards shaping the course of our life.

It's important that we feed the right thoughts and feeling to our mind. For instance are you always complaining and whining about any other thing that is happening in your life? Do you always convince yourself to aim lower and succeed rather that raise the mark and face the daunting task of overcoming failure?

Starting today, learn to accomplish that which you have set your eye and mind to do. As a matter of fact it's quite simple and it doesn't have to cost you anything. Start out by believing in yourself. Believe that you have what it takes to be successful with your online business. Believe that you can do everything that you want.

Once you believe in yourself, find out what you really want to do.

Start out with these two first.

1. Believe in you self.
2. Know what exactly you want to do.

These two ingredients will lay the foundation towards your online success.

Today...
If there are mistakes that I have made then procrastinating will top the list. There are days that I will sit down and plan in details.

I will come up with a one year plan then subdivide that to a six month and then into a three month plan. To fine tune it I will then come up with a monthly goal and finally a weekly and daily activity to help me accomplish my goals.

I'm telling you, when I plan all will be laid down nice and neatly.

But here is the problem!

I have learned through experience that committing to that plan is another thing.

Today I want to encourage you that it's far much better to start doing something today no matter how small it's is than spending your time thinking and worrying about the future or regretting the past or spending countless hours planning and fine tuning and then ending up doing nothing.

Start doing something...starting today!
Forget about all that, here is the best thing to do. Starting today, get out and do something that will move your online business a step forward. Perhaps all your past effort may have not yet yielded anything. Yes online technologies are evolving at a very fast pace, I know that can be intimidating.

But for today, put all your efforts towards doing something.
Yes it's good to plan and know what lies ahead.
Yes it's good to revisit the past and know what worked and didn't work.

But today, for your business sake do something however small or big it may be, just do something that will help build your online business for that's the secret of being successful online.
